Reentry, Redemption & Restoration: The Challenges of Reentry for People on the Registry

Learn about the barriers to a successful reentry for people forced to register, how this impacts their families, how faith communities can work to support registered citizens and hear about the myths and misconceptions that contributes to biases & stigmas against people forced to register.
Some of the topics the panelists will discuss include:
- Identifying the challenges and barriers of finding housing and employment while on the registry and how this harms registrants and the families they take care of.
- Exposing myths about people on the registry that perpetuate fear, social stigmas, and discrimination.
- Addressing issues of blanketed policies of places of worship that target and exclude people on the registry and their families.
- Discussing practical steps, solutions and best practices that will support registrants and their families who are subjected to being re-criminalized, forced into homelessness or separated due to Georgia’s laws and societal discrimination without compromising community safety.
